Led by Wharfedale's Director of Acoustic Design Peter Comeau, the Denton 1S was tuned through extensive modelling and critical listening to ensure the drivers behave as a single unified system. The result is natural, balanced sound, free from tonal discontinuities, with convincing timing, scale, and detail typically associated with far larger loudspeakers.

The Power of Coaxial

At the heart of the Denton 1S is a brand-new coaxial driver array, placing a 25mm silk-dome tweeter concentrically within a 165mm mid/bass cone. Radiating from a single acoustic centre, both drivers operate as one — producing sound that is inherently time-aligned and phase coherent, with stable imaging, a wide soundstage, and consistent tonal balance across a broad listening area. Whether seated centrally or off-axis, the Denton 1S delivers a smooth, immersive sound that belies its compact dimensions.

The coaxial layout also enables a smaller, more rigid cabinet with a clean, uninterrupted front baffle — improving structural integrity while contributing to the speaker's elegant appearance.
