The Elysian Series Gets a Second Act: Meet the Elysian R Series

Wharfedale Refines Its Flagship: Elysian R Series Now Available

Wharfedale’s new Elysian R Series is here, succeeding all five models in the brand’s flagship loudspeaker line.

This is not a ground-up redesign. It is a careful revision of the original Elysian Series, first introduced in 2020, with Peter Comeau and the original engineering team returning to refine the platform.

The range includes two stand-mount speakers, the 1R and 2R; two floorstanders, the 3R and 4R; and the CR center channel for home theater systems. Every model uses an updated AMT tweeter with a new PET diaphragm and a damped rear chamber, designed to improve speed, resolution, and high-frequency control. The midrange and bass drivers have also been revised, while the crossovers now use higher-grade components and shorter signal paths.

The larger models retain Wharfedale’s Slot-Loaded Profiled Port, which helps deliver deeper bass while making placement more forgiving in real rooms.

The finishes have also been updated. Gloss black and gloss white are replaced by Matte Black and Lunar Grey, while Walnut High Gloss remains in the line.

Pricing holds steady from the previous Elysian generation, starting at US$5,995 per pair for the Elysian 1R and reaching US$11,995 per pair for the flagship Elysian 4R. All five models begin shipping in July.
